The Victorian Government has introduced a targeted rebate program to save water, save people money on their water bills, and promote the sustainable use of Victoria's water resources.
The program, which started on 1 July 2015, will help those who can't afford to make their homes more water efficient by helping them install efficient showerheads, dual flush toilets and other eligible water saving products. Water audits will also be conducted in the home to work with the community and help them to see where they can make savings, use the rebates to update to water efficient products and save water.
Victoria's water retailers will contact customers that qualify for the hardship rebates – making their homes more water efficient, saving them money on their water bills and preserving the State's water supplies.
The program will also target local communities in need, helping those who live in flood prone areas and areas that are not connected to a sewerage system. Water retailers will work with councils to identify those communities where installing tanks will work best to lessen the impact on people, property and communities of flooding and save water in our regional towns and centres.
