contribute to our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities.
Victoria (LGV) provides targeted support to enhance emergency management
capability and capacity within local government, including:
- Leading a three-year project to clarify council roles and develop action plans to ensure councils have the skills and expertise to meet their emergency management obligations.
- Coordinating the Municipal Emergency Resourcing Program, which continues to build emergency management capacity in rural, regional and peri-urban councils.
- Providing support to emergency management collaborations and partnerships, including Municipal Emergency Management Enhancement Groups (MEMEGs) which bring councils together to collectively strengthen their emergency management capability and capacity.
- Acting as a conduit between state and local government on emergency management issues in partnership with the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) and Emergency Management Victoria (EMV).
